M&C Specialties is a converter of securement devices for venous and Foley catheters.

Venous & Urological Catheter Securement Products

In the medical space, M&C Specialties is dedicated to supplying only the highest quality products to meet our customers’ most exacting specifications and tolerances. One area where M&C Specialties excels in applying its industry-leading expertise in engineering and converting is the manufacture of venous and urological catheter securement devices. In this product area, we have experience developing a wide range of adhesive-to-skin and non-adhesive configurations and closure systems.

The OEM partners for which we fabricate catheter stabilization devices value us for our reputation as a world-class converter and contract manufacturer of adhesive products supported by our parent company, ITW — a $14.1 billion, Fortune 200, global manufacturing leader with converting operations in 20 countries. As the North American brand of ITW’s Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Components division, we are dedicated to delivering the most innovative and best-performing venous and urological catheter securement devices to market.

World-Class Adhesives Expertise

As human skin is elastic, rough, and uneven, selecting and formulating the right skin-contact adhesive for a specific securement task can be challenging. One made even more difficult by the presence of oils, moisture, dirt, hair follicles, etc. To address this challenge, M&C Specialties works with premium medical-grade skin adhesives tested to ISO:10993 standards.

We offer medical-grade adhesives in the following adhesive systems:

  • Silicone
  • Acrylic
  • Synthetic-based rubber
  • Hydrocolloid

In designing a custom catheter securement device, we select the ideal adhesive based on the following considerations:

  • The body part to which the device must adhere
  • The component or components the device is designed to secure
  • The age of the patient
  • Expected wear time of the device
  • Expected mobility level of the patient

Furthermore, additives such as moisturizers, antimicrobials, and odor absorbers can be added to the adhesive matrix if needed.

Urological/Foley Catheter Securement

M&C Specialties makes a broad range of Foley catheter securement devices, including adhesive and non-adhesive types. We develop and custom fabricate securement devices and other types of Foley catheters and related tubing using a variety of configurations and locking systems, including:

  • Hook-and-loop
  • Open-close tab
  • Bifurcated/dual-tab
  • Extended tab
  • Swivel-locking

For patients with skin sensitivity issues, we make non-adhesive catheter securement devices that safely and securely stabilize catheters using a wrap material or straps. We can tailor and convert these products to exacting specifications using various types of high-quality foam, nonwovens, and film materials. Also, we can engineer double-sided products coated with a different adhesive on each side.

Venous Catheter Securement

Venous catheter securement is critical to the safety and comfort of patients undergoing intravenous (IV) and associated therapies. A properly secured IV catheter aids in the prevention of accidental dislodgement, pistoning, and needlestick injuries while helping to optimize patient comfort. Leveraging our expertise in skin-contact/medical-grade adhesive selection, M&C Specialties designs and manufactures securement devices for use in several venous catheter application areas, including:

  • IV
  • Mid-line
  • Arterial
  • Central venous catheter (CVC)
  • Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)
  • Arterial sheath

Specialty Medical Securement Devices

Our portfolio of specialty medical tubing securement devices includes:

  • Nasogastric (NG) tube holders: used to secure nasogastric feeding and aspiration tubes, including NG feeding tubes, NG intestinal tubes, Salem sump tubes, and Levin stomach tubes.
  • Endotracheal tube holders: used to secure endotracheal tubes, which are flexible plastic tubes placed through a patient’s mouth into the trachea (or windpipe) to help them breathe with the assistance of a ventilator
  • Tracheostomy tube holders: used to secure a tracheostomy tube in the tracheostomy stoma (a hole made in the neck and windpipe) to help a patient breathe with or without a ventilator

Depending on the function and design, our specialty medical tubing securement devices may include such components as soft adjustable fabric neckbands, cushioned foam padding, and secure fastener tabs in various configurations. In general, these securement devices are designed to provide a secure stabilization method to help prevent accidental extubation while also maximizing the patient’s comfort. What’s more, caregivers benefit from the fast and easy application of these products.

In addition to tubing securement devices, the specialty medical securement category includes such non-tubing products as fastening components for eye-protection applications. In particular, we have experience in developing fastening components for ergonomically designed, one-piece, wraparound masks that protect the eyes of neonatal and pediatric patients during UV light/phototherapy sessions.
